Day 335 Readings
Torah: Vayishlach, 6th Portion Bereshit (Genesis) 35:12-36:19
Genesis 35
New American Standard Bible
12 And the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac,I will give to you,And I will give the land to your [a]descendants after you.”
13 Then God went up from him at the place where He had spoken with him. 14 So Jacob set up a memorial stone in the place where He had spoken with him, a memorial of stone, and he poured out a drink offering on it; he also poured oil on it. 15 And Jacob named the place where God had spoken with him, [b]Bethel.
16 Then they journeyed on from Bethel; but when there was still some distance to go to Ephrath, Rachel began to give birth and she suffered severe difficulties in her labor. 17 And when she was suffering severe difficulties in her labor, the midwife said to her, “Do not fear, for you have another son!” 18 And it came about, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she named him [c]Ben-oni; but his father called him [d]Benjamin. 19 So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem). 20 And Jacob set up a memorial stone over her grave; that is the memorial stone of Rachel’s grave to this day. 21 Then Israel journeyed on and pitched his tent beyond the [e]tower of [f]Eder.
The Sons of Israel
22 And it came about, while Israel was living in that land, that Reuben went and slept with his father’s concubine Bilhah, and Israel heard about it.
Now there were twelve sons of Jacob— 23 the sons of Leah were Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, then Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun; 24 the sons of Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin; 25 and the sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s female slave, were Dan and Naphtali; 26 and the sons of Zilpah, Leah’s female slave, were Gad and Asher. These were the sons of Jacob who were born to him in Paddan-aram.
27 Jacob came to his father Isaac at Mamre of Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had resided.
28 Now the days of Isaac were 180 years. 29 Then Isaac breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people, an old man [g]of ripe age; and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
Genesis 36
Esau Moves
1 Now these are the records of the generations of Esau (that is, Edom).
2 Esau took his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, the [h]granddaughter of Zibeon the Hivite; 3 also Basemath, Ishmael’s daughter, the sister of Nebaioth. 4 Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, and Basemath gave birth to Reuel, 5 and Oholibamah gave birth to Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. These are the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of Canaan.
6 Then Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all [i]his household, and his livestock and all his cattle, and all his property which he had acquired in the land of Canaan, and went to another land away from his brother Jacob. 7 For their possessions had become too great for them to live together, and the land where they resided could not support them because of their livestock. 8 So Esau lived in the hill country of Seir; Esau is Edom.

Psalm 63
New American Standard Bible
The Thirsting Soul Satisfied in God.
A Psalm of David, [a]when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
1 God, You are my God; I shall be watching for You; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You,In a dry and exhausted land where there is no water. 2 So have I seen You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and glory. 3 Because Your [b]favor is better than life,My lips will praise You. 4 So I will bless You as long as I live;I will lift up my hands in Your name. 5 My soul is satisfied as with fat and fatness,And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips.
6 When I remember You on my bed,I meditate on You in the night watches,7 For You have been my help,And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy. 8 My soul clings [c]to You;Your right hand takes hold of me.
9 But those who seek my [d]life to destroy it, Will go into the [e]depths of the earth.10 [f]They will be [g]turned over to the power of the sword; They will be a [h]prey for foxes.11 But the king will rejoice in God;Everyone who swears by Him will boast,For the mouths of those who speak lies will be stopped.
Psalm 54

Prayer for Defense against Enemies.
For the music director; on stringed instruments. A [a]Maskil of David, [b]when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, “Is David not keeping himself hidden among us?”
54 Save me, God, by Your name,And [c]vindicate me by Your power.2 Hear my prayer, God;Listen to the words of my mouth.3 For strangers have risen against meAnd violent men have sought my [d]life; They have not set God before them. Selah
4 Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is [e]the sustainer of my soul.5 [f]He will pay back the evil to my enemies;[g]Destroy them in Your [h]faithfulness.
6 [i]Willingly I will sacrifice to You;I will praise Your name, Lord, for it is good.7 For [j]He has saved me from all [k]trouble,And my eye has looked with satisfaction upon my enemies.
Psalm 119:169-176
New American Standard Bible
Tav
169 Let my cry [a]come before You, Lord;Give me understanding according to Your word.
170 Let my pleading come before You;Save me according to Your [b]word.
171 Let my lips pour out praise,For You teach me Your statutes.
172 Let my tongue sing about Your [c]word,For all Your commandments are righteousness.
173 Let Your hand be [d]ready to help me,For I have chosen Your precepts.
174 I long for Your salvation, Lord,And Your Law is my delight.
175 Let my soul live that it may praise You,And let Your ordinances help me.
176 I have wandered about like a lost sheep; search for Your servant,For I do not forget Your commandments.
Luke 15
New American Standard Bible
The Lost Sheep
1 Now all the tax collectors and [a]sinners were coming near [b]Jesus to listen to Him. 2 And both the Pharisees and the scribes began to complain, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.”
3 And so He told them this parable, saying, 4 “What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the other ninety-nine in the [c]open pasture and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he puts it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost!’ 7 I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.
The Lost Coin
8 “Or what woman, if she has ten [d]silver coins and loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found the coin which I had lost!’ 10 In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Disappointment
Whom did you place your confidence in only to find out later it was all a trick? Is your life messed up because that trusted person lied to you? The Psalmist knows the path back to personal spiritual health lies in asking God for help. You’ll do better if you turn that anger into forgiveness and getting close to God for he is the judge overall.
Prayer: Lord, I am choosing to move toward You. I can’t continue living as I have. I need your help to change and may you guide my way. Amen.
Scripture
Daniel 8
11 It even exalted itself [l]to be equal with the [m]Commander of the army; and it removed the regular sacrifice from Him, and the place of His sanctuary was overthrown. 12 And because of [n]an offense the army will be given to the horn along with the regular sacrifice; and it will hurl truth to the ground and do as it pleases and be successful. 13 Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to that particular one who was speaking, “How long will the vision about the regular sacrifice apply, [o]while the offense causes horror, so as to allow both the sanctuary and the army [p]to be trampled?” 14 And he said to me, “For 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be [q]properly restored.”
Interpretation of the Vision
15 When I, Daniel, had seen the vision, I sought [r]to understand it; and behold, standing before me was one [s]who looked like a man. 16 And I heard the voice of a man between the banks of Ulai, and he called out and said, “Gabriel, explain the vision to this man.” 17 So he came near to where I was standing, and when he came I was frightened and fell on my face; and he said to me, “Son of man, understand that the vision pertains to the time of the end.”
18 Now while he was talking with me, I was dazed with my face to the ground; but he touched me and made me stand at my place. 19 And he said, “Behold, I am going to inform you of what will occur at the final period of the indignation, because it pertains to the appointed time of the end.
23 And in the latter period of their [v]dominion,When the wrongdoers have [w]run their course,A king will arise,[x]Insolent and skilled in [y]intrigue.24 And his power will be mighty, but not by his own power,And he will [z]destroy to an extraordinary degreeAnd be successful and do as he pleases; He will [aa]destroy mighty men and [ab]the holy people.25 And through his shrewdnessHe will make deceit a success by his [ac]influence; And he will make himself great in his [ad]own mind,And he will [ae]destroy many while they are [af]at ease.He will even [ag]oppose the Prince of princes,But he will be broken without [ah]human agency.26 And the vision of the evenings and morningsWhich has been told is true; But as for you, keep the vision secret,Because it pertains to many days in the future.”
27 Then I, Daniel, was [ai]exhausted and sick for days. Then I got up and carried on the king’s business; but I was astounded at the vision, and there was no one to explain it.
1 John 2
Christ Is Our Advocate
1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an [a]Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 2 and He Himself is the [b]propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5 but whoever follows His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: 6 the one who says that he remains in Him ought, himself also, walk just as He walked.
7 Beloved, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you have heard. 8 [c]On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining. 9 The one who says that he is in the Light and yet hates his brother or sister is in the darkness until now. 10 The one who loves his brother and sister remains in the Light, and there is nothing in him to cause stumbling. 11 But the one who hates his brother or sister is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
12 I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you on account of His name. 13 I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father. 14 I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God remains in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
Do Not Love the World
15 Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 The world is passing away and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God continues to live forever.
18 Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that [d]it would be evident that they all are not of us. 20 [e]But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and [f]because no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is the liar except the one who denies that Jesus is the [g]Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also. 24 As for you, see that what you heard from the beginning remains in you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father.
The Promise Is Eternal Life
25 This is the promise which He Himself [h]made to us: eternal life.
26 These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you. 27 And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him remains in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, [i]you remain in Him.
28 Now, little children, remain in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not [j]draw back from Him in shame [k]at His coming. 29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness also has been born of Him.
Psalm 120
Prayer for Rescue from the Treacherous.
A Song of [a]Ascents.
1 I cried to the Lord in my trouble,And He answered me. 2 Rescue my soul, Lord, from lying lips,From a deceitful tongue. 3 What will He give to you, and what more will He do to you,You deceitful tongue? 4 Sharp arrows of the warrior, With the burning coals of the broom tree!
5 Woe to me, for I reside in Meshech,For I have settled among the tents of Kedar! 6 Too long has my soul had its dwelling With those who hate peace. 7 I am for peace, but when I speak,They are for war.
Proverbs 28:23-24
New American Standard Bible
23 One who rebukes a person will afterward find more favor Than one who flatters with the tongue.
24 He who robs his father or his mother And says, “There is no wrong done,”Is the companion of a person who destroys.
