Torah: Lech-Lecha, 2nd Portion Bereshit (Genesis) 12:14-13:4
Genesis 12
New American Standard Bible
14 Now it came about, when Abram entered Egypt, that the Egyptians [a]saw that the woman was very beautiful. 15 Pharaoh’s officials saw her and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house. 16 Therefore he treated Abram well for her sake; and [b]he gave him sheep, oxen, male donkeys, male servants and female servants, female donkeys, and camels.
17 But the Lord struck Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife. 18 Then Pharaoh called Abram and said, “What is this that you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife? 19 Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her for myself as a wife? Now then, [c]here is your wife, take her and go!” 20 And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him; and they [d]escorted him away, with his wife and all that belonged to him.
Genesis 13
Abram and Lot
1 So Abram went up from Egypt to the [e]Negev, he and his wife and all that belonged to him, and Lot with him.
2 Now Abram was very rich in livestock, silver, and gold. 3 And he went [f]on his journeys from the [g]Negev as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, 4 to the place of the altar which he had made there previously; and there Abram called on the name of the Lord.

Judges 11
29 Now the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah, and he passed through Gilead and Manasseh; then he passed through Mizpah of Gilead, and from Mizpah of Gilead he went on to the sons of Ammon. 30 And Jephthah made a vow to the Lord and said, “If You will indeed hand over to me the sons of Ammon, 31 then whatever comes out the doors of my house to meet me when I return [a]safely from the sons of Ammon, it shall be the Lord’s, and I will offer it up as a burnt offering.” 32 So Jephthah crossed over to the sons of Ammon to fight against them; and the Lord handed them over to him. 33 He [b]inflicted a very great defeat on them from Aroer [c]to the entrance of Minnith, twenty cities, and as far as Abel-keramim. So the sons of Ammon were subdued before the sons of Israel.
Judges 12
7 Jephthah judged Israel for six years. Then Jephthah the Gileadite died and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.
8 Now Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel after him. 9 He had thirty sons, and thirty daughters whom he [q]gave in marriage outside the family, and he brought in thirty daughters from outside for his sons. And he judged Israel for seven years. 10 Then Ibzan died and was buried in Bethlehem.
11 Now Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel after him; he judged Israel for ten years. 12 Then Elon the Zebulunite died and was buried at Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.
13 Now Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite judged Israel after him. 14 He had forty sons and thirty grandsons who rode on seventy donkeys; and he judged Israel for eight years. 15 Then Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died and was buried at Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the hill country of the Amalekites.

A Time To Sing!
Is music part of your praise? Do you love to sing songs about our wonderful Saviour? Do you sing for joy when you think of God’s grace, mercy, love, comfort, provision and power? Have you found yourself waking up to a particular hymn running through your mind? This psalm was written as a special song for a special day – the Sabbath. May it be your song today.
Prayer: Dear Lord, you’ve put a song in my heart today: a song of thanksgiving and praise. I want to sing about your love and faithfulness, your joy and peace. Don’t let the grey frowns and heavy hearts of others mute my song … but let my song bring a smile and lighten a heart today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Scripture
Jeremiah 41
11 But when Johanan the son of Kareah and all the captains of the forces that were with him heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done, 12 they took all the men and went to fight with Ishmael the son of Nethaniah; and they found him by the great pool that is in Gibeon. 13 So it was, when all the people who were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, that they were glad. 14 Then all the people whom Ishmael had carried away captive from Mizpah turned around and came back, and went to Johanan the son of Kareah. 15 But Ishmael the son of Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men and went to the Ammonites.
16 Then Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, took from Mizpah all the rest of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah after he had murdered Gedaliah the son of Ahikam—the mighty men of war and the women and the children and the eunuchs, whom he had brought back from Gibeon. 17 And they departed and dwelt in the habitation of Chimham, which is near Bethlehem, as they went on their way to Egypt, 18 because of the Chaldeans; for they were afraid of them, because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had murdered Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had made governor in the land.
Jeremiah 42
5 So they said to Jeremiah, “Let the Lord be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not do according to everything which the Lord your God sends us by you. 6 Whether it is [d]pleasing or [e]displeasing, we will obey the voice of the Lord our God to whom we send you, that it may be well with us when we obey the voice of the Lord our God.”
7 And it happened after ten days that the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah. 8 Then he called Johanan the son of Kareah, all the captains of the forces which were with him, and all the people from the least even to the greatest, 9 and said to them, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your petition before Him: 10 ‘If you will still remain in this land, then I will build you and not pull you down, and I will plant you and not pluck you up. For I relent concerning the disaster that I have brought upon you. 11 Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom you are afraid; do not be afraid of him,’ says the Lord, ‘for I am with you, to save you and deliver you from his hand. 12 And I will show you mercy, that he may have mercy on you and cause you to return to your own land.’
13 “But if you say, ‘We will not dwell in this land,’ disobeying the voice of the Lord your God, 14 saying, ‘No, but we will go to the land of Egypt where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor be hungry for bread, and there we will dwell’— 15 Then hear now the word of the Lord, O remnant of Judah! Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘If you wholly[f] set your faces to enter Egypt, and go to dwell there, 16 then it shall be that the sword which you feared shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt; the famine of which you were afraid shall follow close after you there in Egypt; and there you shall die. 17 So shall it be with all the men who set their faces to go to Egypt to dwell there. They shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence. And none of them shall remain or escape from the disaster that I will bring upon them.’
18 “For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘As My anger and My fury have been poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so will My fury be poured out on you when you enter Egypt. And you shall be an oath, an astonishment, a curse, and a reproach; and you shall see this place no more.’
19 “The Lord has said concerning you, O remnant of Judah, ‘Do not go to Egypt!’ Know certainly that I have [g]admonished you this day. 20 For you [h]were hypocrites in your hearts when you sent me to the Lord your God, saying, ‘Pray for us to the Lord our God, and according to all that the Lord your God says, so declare to us and we will do it.’ 21 And I have this day declared it to you, but you have not obeyed the voice of the Lord your God, or anything which He has sent you by me. 22 Now therefore, know certainly that you shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence in the place where you desire to go to dwell.”
2 Timothy 2:1-13
Be Strong
1 You therefore, my [a]son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful [b]people who will be able to teach others also. 3 Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him. 5 And if someone likewise competes as an athlete, he is not [c]crowned as victor unless he competes according to the rules. 6 The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops. 7 Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.
8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel, 9 [d]for which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned. 10 For this reason I endure all things for the sake of [e]those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory. 11 The statement is trustworthy:
For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him;If we [f]deny Him, He will also deny us;13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
Psalms 92
Praise to the Lord for His Love and Faithfulness
A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath day.
1 It is good to give thanks to the Lord,And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
2 To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning,And Your faithfulness every night,
3 On an instrument of ten strings,On the lute,And on the harp,With harmonious sound.
4 For You, Lord, have made me glad through Your work;I will triumph in the works of Your hands.
5 O Lord, how great are Your works!Your thoughts are very deep.
6 A senseless man does not know,Nor does a fool understand this.
7 When the wicked [a]spring up like grass,And when all the workers of iniquity flourish,It is that they may be destroyed forever. 8 But You, Lord, are on high forevermore.
9 For behold, Your enemies, O Lord,For behold, Your enemies shall perish; All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
10 But my [b]horn You have exalted like a wild ox;I have been anointed with fresh oil.
11 My eye also has seen my desire on my enemies; My ears hear my desire on the wicked Who rise up against me.
12 The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those who are planted in the house of the LordShall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be [c]fresh and [d]flourishing,
15 To declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
Psalms 93
The Eternal Reign of the Lord
1 The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty; The Lord is clothed,He has girded Himself with strength.Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be [e]moved.
2 Your throne is established from of old;You are from everlasting.
3 The floods have [f]lifted up, O Lord,The floods have lifted up their voice; The floods lift up their waves.
4 The Lord on high is mightier Than the noise of many waters, Than the mighty waves of the sea.
5 Your testimonies are very sure;Holiness adorns Your house,O Lord, [g]forever.
Proverbs 26:3-5
3 A whip is for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, And a rod for the back of fools.
4 Do not answer a fool [a]according to his foolishness, Or you will also be like him.
5 Answer a fool as his foolishness deserves, So that he will not be wise in his own eyes.
Dear AVI,
Great are YOU O LORD GOD Almighty!!! HOLY One of Israel there is None like YOU, creator of all things! Ruler and King of the Universe Everything is under YOUR Sovereign Control YOUR Majesty! Forgive me O LORD for all the wrong things I have said to Stephen, the man whom YOU chose to help me from all my troubles. Forgive me O GOD, and redeem myself I pray that YOU will help him to understand me and that his intelligence will benefit us and our future relationship because I am such a mess O GOD, YOU see all the weakness in me and I pray that he sees all of it and still love me for me just the way YOU love me for me. Understand the brilliance in me and see all the good that YOU see in me. I pray this because a husbands love for his wife should be like YOUR love for the church right?? Sacificial and selfless. I pray O GOD that YOU help him to see everything in YOUR perspective. I ask YOU O GOD have YOUR way in him and his mind, intelligentceand heart, in me and in my heart. Have YOUR way in all of us O GOD, even our families, and loved ones, all those working for us. Help us to be all that YOU have called us to be. But AVI, I hear what YOU are trying to say in Jeremiah 42:9 and said to them, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your petition before Him: 10 ‘If you will still remain in this land, then I will build you and not pull you down, and I will plant you and not pluck you up.
So help me GOD obey YOU and dwell in the land I see as Babylon, to plant and marry and build houses and build a life with the husband YOU have chosen for me. I glaldy surrender this desire to YOU to live outside the Philippines. I want to settle down and I am ready for it but my heart is downcast when I see my promise still occupied with another human being. Please AVI, cause them to break apart because I am the one YOU have chosen for him. Please cause them break apart this week na LORD, I want YOU to do something, becuase it is YOUR Job to eliminate the termites in the promise land. I will do my part and obey YOU by believing and standing in YOUR Promise but it is YOUR work that should do everything and then I will receive that as my victory because I am only human. I can only do so much with all my limitations, but I know whatever YOU want me to do YOU will supply me with the power and grace to do it just as YOU have always done so before so here I am LORD, have YOUR way in me and in all that I do in my mind and heart, have YOUR Way O GOD. For YOU deserve all the glory and honor and power. Please take care of Stephen my future Melek. Please GOD please encounter him, let him have a deep encounter with YOU like Paul did like what YOU did with me too. I pray that he will surrender his life to YOU and follow YOU and he help me follow YOU more effectively. O GOD so that we will give YOU all the glory honor and praise that YOU deserve! YOU alone deserve everything O GOD!
Ba HaShem Yeshua HaMashiach, Amen!
