Torah: Vezot Hab'rachah, 2nd Portion Devarim (Deuteronomy) 33:8-12
Complete Jewish Bible
(ii) 8 Of Levi he said:
“Let your tumim and urimbe with your pious one, whom you tested at Massah, with whom you struggled at M’rivah Spring.9 Of his father and mother he said, ‘I don’t know them’;he didn’t acknowledge his brothers or children. For he observed your word, and he kept your covenant.10 They will teach Ya‘akov your rulings,Isra’el your Torah. They will set incense before youand whole burnt offerings on your altar.11 Adonai, bless his possessions, accept the work he does;but crush his enemies hip and thigh;may those who hate him rise no more.”
12 Of Binyamin he said:
“Adonai’s beloved lives securely. He protects him day after day.He lives between his shoulders.”

Joshua 19:1-31
9 The inheritance of the children of Simeon was included in the share of the children of Judah, for the share of the children of Judah was [a]too much for them. Therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance within the inheritance of [b]that people.
365 Daily Kingdom Living
Forward
Courage is the willingness to act right in spite of fear. Courage also dares to go into uncharted territory and to cross unknown frontiers so that we may walk in God’s way. The courageous ones also know to put the past behind them and press forward to God’s destiny. The only way is forward. Come and act now!
Prayer: Lord, let me be courageous to do the right thing in Your sight. Strengthen my resolve to forget my past successes or failures so they will not hinder me from running towards the destiny that You have set out for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Isaiah 66
New King James Version
True Worship and False
1 Thus says the Lord:
“Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest? 2 For all those things My hand has made, And all those things exist,” Says the Lord.“ But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word.
3 “He who kills a bull is as if he slays a man;He who sacrifices a lamb, as if he breaks a dog’s neck;He who offers a grain offering, as if he offers swine’s blood; He who burns incense, as if he blesses an idol.Just as they have chosen their own ways,And their soul delights in their abominations, 4 So will I choose their delusions,And bring their fears on them; Because, when I called, no one answered,When I spoke they did not hear; But they did evil before My eyes, And chose that in which I do not delight.”
The Lord Vindicates Zion
5 Hear the word of the Lord,You who tremble at His word:“Your brethren who hated you,Who cast you out for My name’s sake, said,‘Let the Lord be glorified,That we may see your joy.’But they shall be ashamed.”
6 The sound of noise from the city! A voice from the temple! The voice of the Lord, Who fully repays His enemies!
7 “Before she was in labor, she gave birth; Before her pain came, She delivered a male child. 8 Who has heard such a thing?Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day?Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion was in labor, She gave birth to her children. 9 Shall I bring to the time of birth, and not cause delivery?” says the Lord.“Shall I who cause delivery shut up the womb?” says your God.10 “Rejoice with Jerusalem,And be glad with her, all you who love her;Rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn for her;11 That you may feed and be satisfiedWith the consolation of her bosom, That you may drink deeply and be delighted With the abundance of her glory.”
12 For thus says the Lord: “Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river,And the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream. Then you shall feed; On her sides shall you be carried,And be dandled on her knees.13 As one whom his mother comforts,So I will comfort you;And you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.”
The Reign and Indignation of God
14 When you see this, your heart shall rejoice,And your bones shall flourish like grass; The hand of the Lord shall be known to His servants,And His indignation to His enemies.15 For behold, the Lord will come with fireAnd with His chariots, like a whirlwind,To render His anger with fury,And His rebuke with flames of fire.16 For by fire and by His swordThe Lord will judge all flesh; And the slain of the Lord shall be many.
17 “Those who sanctify themselves and purify themselves,To go to the gardens[a]After an idol in the midst,Eating swine’s flesh and the abomination and the mouse,Shall [b]be consumed together,” says the Lord.
18 “For I know their works and their thoughts. It shall be that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come and see My glory. 19 I will set a sign among them; and those among them who escape I will send to the nations: to Tarshish and [c]Pul and Lud, who draw the bow, and Tubal and Javan, to the coastlands afar off who have not heard My fame nor seen My glory. And they shall declare My glory among the Gentiles. 20 Then they shall bring all your brethren for an offering to the Lord out of all nations, on horses and in chariots and in litters, on mules and on camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the Lord, “as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord. 21 And I will also take some of them for priests and Levites,” says the Lord.
22 “For as the new heavens and the new earth Which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the Lord, “So shall your descendants and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass That from one New Moon to another,And from one Sabbath to another, All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.
24 “And they shall go forth and lookUpon the corpses of the menWho have transgressed against Me. For their worm does not die,And their fire is not quenched. They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”
Philippians 3
All for Christ
1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe.
2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation! 3 For we are the circumcision, who worship [a]God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh, 4 though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: 5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; 6 concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain[b] to the resurrection from the dead.
Pressing Toward the Goal
12 Not that I have already attained,[c] or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have [d]apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. 16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already [e]attained, let us walk by the same [f]rule, let us be of the same mind.
Our Citizenship in Heaven
17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. 18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things. 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
Psalms 74
New King James Version
A Plea for Relief from Oppressors
A [a]Contemplation of Asaph.
1 O God, why have You cast us off forever? Why does Your anger smoke against the sheep of Your pasture?2 Remember Your congregation, which You have purchased of old,The tribe of Your inheritance, which You have redeemed—This Mount Zion where You have dwelt. 3 Lift up Your feet to the perpetual desolations. The enemy has damaged everything in the sanctuary. 4 Your enemies roar in the midst of Your meeting place; They set up their banners for signs. 5 They seem like men who lift upAxes among the thick trees. 6 And now they break down its carved work, all at once,With axes and hammers. 7 They have set fire to Your sanctuary; They have defiled the dwelling place of Your name to the ground. 8 They said in their hearts,“Let us [b]destroy them altogether.”They have burned up all the meeting places of God in the land.
9 We do not see our signs; There is no longer any prophet;Nor is there any among us who knows how long. 10 O God, how long will the adversary [c]reproach? Will the enemy blaspheme Your name forever?11 Why do You withdraw Your hand, even Your right hand? Take it out of Your bosom and destroy them. 12 For God is my King from of old, Working salvation in the midst of the earth. 13 You divided the sea by Your strength; You broke the heads of the [d]sea serpents in the waters. 14 You broke the heads of [e]Leviathan in pieces,And gave him as food to the people inhabiting the wilderness. 15 You broke open the fountain and the flood; You dried up mighty rivers. 16 The day is Yours, the night also is Yours; You have prepared the light and the sun. 17 You have set all the borders of the earth; You have made summer and winter.
18 Remember this, that the enemy has reproached, O Lord, And that a foolish people has blasphemed Your name. 19 Oh, do not deliver the life of Your turtledove to the wild beast! Do not forget the life of Your poor forever. 20 Have respect to the covenant; For the dark places of the earth are full of the [g]haunts of [h]cruelty. 21 Oh, do not let the oppressed return ashamed! Let the poor and needy praise Your name.
22 Arise, O God, plead Your own cause;Remember how the foolish man [i]reproaches You daily. 23 Do not forget the voice of Your enemies; The tumult of those who rise up against You increases continually.
Proverbs 24:15-16
15 Do not lie in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; Do not plunder his resting place;
16 For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.
