Joshua 21:34-45
The Promise Fulfilled
43 So the Lord gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it. 44 The Lord gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand. 45 Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.
1 Chronicles 6:54-81
Dwelling Places of the Levites
54 Now these are their dwelling places throughout their settlements in their territory, for they were given by lot to the sons of Aaron, of the family of the Kohathites: 55 They gave them Hebron in the land of Judah, with its surrounding [a]common-lands. 56 But the fields of the city and its villages they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh. 57 And to the sons of Aaron they gave one of the cities of refuge, Hebron; also Libnah with its common-lands, Jattir, Eshtemoa with its common-lands, 58 [b]Hilen with its common-lands, Debir with its common-lands, 59 [c]Ashan with its common-lands, and Beth Shemesh with its common-lands. 60 And from the tribe of Benjamin: Geba with its common-lands, [d]Alemeth with its common-lands, and Anathoth with its common-lands. All their cities among their families were thirteen.
Mark 9:42-50
Jesus Warns of Offenses
NKJV 42 “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me [a]to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. 43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life [b]maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to [c]hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched— 44 [d]where
‘Their worm does not dieAnd the fire is not quenched.’
Tasteless Salt Is Worthless
CJB 49 Indeed, everyone is going to be salted with fire. 50 Salt is excellent, but if it loses its saltiness, how will you season it? So have salt in yourselves — that is, be at peace with each other.”
Matthew 18:7-14
Stumbling Blocks
NASB 7 “Woe to the world because of its [a]stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that [b]stumbling blocks come; but woe to the person through whom the [c]stumbling block comes!
8 “And if your hand or your foot is causing you to sin, cut it off and throw it away from you; it is better for you to enter life maimed or without a foot, than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into the eternal fire. 9 And if your eye is causing you to sin, tear it out and throw it away from you. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than to have two eyes and be thrown into the [d]fiery hell.
10 “See that you do not look down on one of these little ones; for I say to you that their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in heaven.[e]
Ninety-nine Plus One
12 “What do you think? If any man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains, and go and search for the one that is lost? 13 And if it turns out that he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that have not gone astray. 14 So it is not the will [f]of your Father who is in heaven for one of these little ones to perish.

The Ancient Paths
Some paths lead to good places. Others end in the wilderness. In the world of multinational corporations and shopping malls most of us seem to have lost our way. Today, God is calling us back to the old paths where love and mercy is found in Jesus. Will you say yes and get back on track?
Prayer: Lord, I will not forego Your way and follow the by path of greed. Enable me to show charity and grace to the needy just like Jesus did. I know well that I will walk along Your ancient paths of godliness and righteousness and find rest in my soul, knowing that You await me at my journey’s end. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Scripture
Jeremiah 5
Jerusalem’s Godlessness
1 “Roam about through the streets of Jerusalem,And look and take notice. And seek in her public squares,If you can find a person,If there is one who does justice, who seeks honesty,Then I will forgive [a]her.2 And although they say, ‘As the Lord lives,’Certainly they swear falsely.”3 Lord, do Your eyes not look for honesty? You have struck them,But they did not [b]weaken; You have consumed them,But they refused to accept discipline. They have made their faces harder than rock; They have refused to repent.
4 Then I said, “They are only the poor,They are foolish; For they do not know the way of the LordOr the judgment of their God.5 I will go to the greatAnd speak to them,For they know the way of the LordAnd the judgment of their God.”But together they too have broken the yokeAnd burst the restraints.6 Therefore a lion from the forest will kill them,A wolf of the deserts will destroy them,A leopard is watching their cities.Everyone who goes out of them will be torn in pieces,Because their wrongdoings are many,Their apostasies are numerous.
Judgment Proclaimed
14 Therefore, this is what the Lord, the God of armies says:“Because you have spoken this word,Behold, I am making My words fire in your mouth,And this people wood, and it will consume them.
18 “Yet even in those days,” declares the Lord, “I will not make a complete destruction of you. 19 And it shall come about when [d]they say, ‘Why has the Lord our God done all these things to us?’ then you shall say to them, ‘Just as you have abandoned Me and served foreign gods in your land, so you will serve strangers in a land that is not yours.’
20 “Declare this in the house of JacobAnd proclaim it in Judah, saying,21 ‘Now hear this, you foolish and [e]senseless people,Who have eyes but do not see,Who have ears but do not hear.22 Do you not fear Me?’ declares the Lord.‘Do you not tremble in My presence? For I have placed the sand as a boundary for the sea,An eternal limit, and it will not cross over it.Though the waves toss, they cannot prevail;Though they roar, they will not cross over it.23 But this people has a stubborn and rebellious heart; They have turned aside and departed.24 They do not say in their heart,“Let us now fear the Lord our God,Who gives rain in its season,Both the autumn rain and the spring rain,Who keeps for usThe appointed weeks of the harvest.”25 Your wrongdoings have turned these away,And your sins have kept good away from you.
Jeremiah 6
1 “Flee to safety, you sons of Benjamin, From the midst of Jerusalem!
Blow a trumpet in Tekoa And raise a warning signal over [l]Beth-haccerem;
For evil looks down from the north, Along with a great destruction.
2 The beautiful anddelicate one,the daughter of Zion, I will destroy.
3 Shepherds and their flocks will come to her, They willpitchtheirtents[m]around her,
They will pasture, each in his[n]place.
4 ‘[o]Prepare for war against her; Arise, and let’s[p]attack atnoon.
Woe to us, for the day declines, For the shadows of the evening lengthen!
5 Arise, and let’s[q]attack by night Anddestroy her[r]palaces!’”
6 For this is what theLordof armies says: “Cut down her trees
And pile up anassault ramp against Jerusalem. This is the city to be punished,
In whose midst there is onlyoppression.
7 As a well[s]keeps its waters fresh, So she[t]keeps fresh her wickedness.
Violence and destruction are heard in her; Sickness and wounds are constantly before Me.
8 Be warned, Jerusalem, Or[u]I shall be alienated from you, And make you a desolation, An uninhabited land.”
11 But I amfull of the wrath of theLord; I amweary of holdingitin.
“Pouritout on the children in the street And on the[w]gathering of young men together;
For both husband and wife shall be taken, The old[x]and the very old.
13 “For from the least of them to the greatest of them, Everyone is greedy for gain,
And from the prophet to the priest Everyone deals falsely.
14 They have healed the brokenness of My people superficially, Saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ But there is no peace.
And as for My Law, they haverejected it also.
20 For what purpose doesfrankincense come to Me from Sheba, And the[z]sweet cane from a distant land?
Your burnt offerings are not acceptable And your sacrifices are not pleasing to Me.”
21 Therefore, this is what theLordsays: “Behold,I am[aa]placing stumbling blocks before this people.
And they will stumble against them, Fathers and sons together; Neighbor and[ab]friend will perish.”
27 “I have made you an assayer and an examiner among My people, So that you may know and put their way to the test.”
28 All of them are stubbornly rebellious, Going about as a slanderer; They are bronze and iron.
They are, all of them, corrupt
29 The bellows blow fiercely, The lead is consumed by the fire; In vain the refining goes on,
But the wicked are not [ad]separated.
30 They call them rejected silver, Because the Lord has rejected them.
Colossians 1
9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard about it, have not ceased praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the [l]knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, [m]to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and [n]increasing in the [o]knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all power, according to [p]His glorious might, [q]for the attaining of all perseverance and [r]patience; joyously 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us [s]to share in the inheritance of the [t]saints in light.
The Incomparable Christ
13 [u]For He rescued us from the [v]domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of [w]His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
15 [x]He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation: 16 for [y]by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. 17 He [z]is before all things, and in Him all things [aa]hold together. 18 He is also the head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. 19 For [ab]it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the [ac]fullness to dwell in Him, 20 and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, whether things on earth or things in [ad]heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
21 And although you were previously alienated and hostile in attitude, engaged in evil deeds, 22 yet He has now reconciled you in His body of flesh through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach— 23 if indeed you continue in [ae]the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, [af]was made a [ag]minister.
24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am supplementing what is lacking [ah]in Christ’s afflictions in behalf of His body, which is the church. 25 I [ai]was made a minister of this church according to the commission from God granted to me for your benefit, so that I might [aj]fully carry out the preaching of the word of God, 26 that is, the mystery which had been hidden from the past ages and generations, but now has been revealed to His [ak]saints, 27 to whom God willed to make known what the wealth of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles is, the mystery that is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 28 We proclaim Him, admonishing every person and teaching every person [al]with all wisdom, so that we may present every person [am]complete in Christ. 29 For this purpose I also labor, striving according to His [an]power which [ao]works mightily within me.
Psalms 76
1 God is known in Judah; His name is great in Israel. 2 His [a]tabernacle is in Salem; His dwelling place also is in Zion. 3 There He broke the [b]flaming arrows,The shield, the sword, and the [c]weapons of war. Selah
4 You are resplendent,[d]More majestic than the mountains of prey. 5 The stouthearted were plundered,[e]They sank into sleep; And none of the [f]warriors could use his hands. 6 At Your rebuke, God of Jacob,Both [g]rider and horse were cast into a dead sleep. 7 You, You indeed are to be feared,And who may stand in Your presence, [h]once You are angry?
8 You caused judgment to be heard from heaven; The earth feared and was still 9 When God arose to judgment,To save all the humble of the earth. Selah 10 For the [i]wrath of mankind shall praise You;You will encircle Yourself with a remnant of wrath.
11 Make vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them; All who are around Him are to bring gifts to Him who is to be feared. 12 He will cut off the spirit of princes; He is [j]feared by the kings of the earth.
Proverbs 24:23-25
New American Standard Bible
23 These also are sayings of the wise:To [a]show partiality in judgment is not good. 24 One who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,”Peoples will curse him, nations will scold him ;25 But for those who rebuke the wicked there will be delight,And a good blessing will come upon them.
