Day 272 Readings
Torah: Vezot Hab'rachah, 6th Portion Devarim (Deuteronomy) 33:27-29
27 The eternal God is you, And underneath are the everlasting arms;
He will thrust out the enemy from before you, And will say, ‘Destroy!’
28 Then Israel shall dwell in safety, The fountain of Jacob alone,
In a land of grain and new wine; His heavens shall also drop dew.
29 Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord,
The shield of your help And the sword of your majesty!
Your enemies shall submit to you, And you shall tread down their [a]high places.”

Joshua 15:20-63
The Cities of Judah
20 This was the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families:
61 In the wilderness: Beth Arabah, Middin, Secacah, 62 Nibshan, the City of Salt, and En Gedi: six cities with their villages.
63 As for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.
Mark 9:30-32
30 And from there they went out and began to go through Galilee, and He did not want anyone to know about it. 31 For He was teaching His disciples and telling them, “The Son of Man is to be [a]handed over to men, and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He will rise three days later.” 32 But they [b]did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him.
Matthew 17:22-23
22 And while they were gathering together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be [a]handed over to men; 23 and they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day.” And they were deeply grieved.
365 Daily Kingdom Living
Love The Elderly
In time past, when King David felt the infirmities of old age creeping up, he appealed to God for Divine compassion. Today, someone around you may be silently crying out as David did. Will you do something about it?
Prayer: Lord, You are my friend when I am young and when I am weak and helpless in my old age. Now that I have the strength to care for the elderly, please show me how to do it well. Grant me also a loving heart towards the aged so I will do it with grace and respect. If I am reaching the age where you deem care is needed for me, please direct somebody with the compassion to care for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Scripture
Isaiah 58
3 ‘Why have we fasted and You do not see? Why have we humbled ourselves and You do not [a]notice?’
Behold, on the day of your fast you find your desire, And oppress all your workers.
4 Behold, you fast for contention and strife, and to strike with a wicked fist
You do not fast like you have done today to make your voice heard on high!
5 Is it a fast like this that I choose, a day for a person to humble himself?
Is it for bowing [b]one’s head like a reed And for spreading out sackcloth and ashes as a bed?
Will you call this a fast, even an acceptable day to the Lord?
6 Is this not the fast that I choose: To release the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the ropes of the yoke, And to let the oppressed go free, And break every yoke?
7 Is it not to break your bread [c]with the hungry And bring the homeless poor into the house;
When you see the naked, to cover him; And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
8 Then your light will break out like the dawn, And your recovery will spring up quickly;
And your righteousness will go before you; The glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
9 Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; You will cry for help, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’
If you remove the yoke from your midst, The [d]pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness,
10 And if you offer yourself to the hungry And satisfy the [e]need of the afflicted,
Then your light will rise in darkness, And your gloom will become like midday.
11 And the Lord will continually guide you, And satisfy your [f]desire in scorched places,
And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water whose waters do not [g]fail.
12 Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up the age-old foundations;
And you will be called the repairer of the breach, The restorer of the [h]streets in which to dwell.
Keeping the Sabbath
13 “If, because of the Sabbath, you restrain your footFrom doing as you wish on My holy day,And call the Sabbath a pleasure, and the holy day of the Lord honorable,And honor it, desisting from your own ways,From seeking your own pleasureAnd speaking your own word,14 Then you will take delight in the Lord,And I will make you ride on the heights of the earth;And I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father,For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
Isaiah 59
1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened,That it cannot save;Nor His ear heavy,That it cannot hear.2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God;And your sins have hidden His face from you,So that He will not hear.3 For your hands are defiled with [h]blood,And your fingers with iniquity;Your lips have spoken lies,Your tongue has muttered perversity.
4 No one calls for justice,Nor does any plead for truth.They trust in empty words and speak lies;They conceive [i]evil and bring forth iniquity.5 They hatch vipers’ eggs and weave the spider’s web;He who eats of their eggs dies,And from that which is crushed a viper breaks out.
Sin Confessed
9 Therefore justice is far from us,Nor does righteousness overtake us;We look for light, but there is darkness!For brightness, but we walk in blackness!
14 Justice is turned back, And righteousness stands afar off;
For truth is fallen in the street, And equity cannot enter.
15 So truth fails, And he who departs from evil makes himself a prey.
The Redeemer of Zion
Then the Lord saw it, and [j]it displeased HimThat there was no justice.16 He saw that there was no man,And wondered that there was no intercessor;Therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him;And His own righteousness, it sustained Him.17 For He put on righteousness as a breastplate,And a helmet of salvation on His head;He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing,And was clad with zeal as a cloak.18 According to their deeds, accordingly He will repay,Fury to His adversaries,Recompense to His enemies;The coastlands He will fully repay.19 So shall they fearThe name of the Lord from the west,And His glory from the rising of the sun;When the enemy comes in like a flood,The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.
20 “The Redeemer will come to Zion,And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,”Says the Lord.
21 “As for Me,” says the Lord, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the Lord, “from this time and forevermore.”
Philippians 1:1-11
Thankfulness and Prayer
3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, 5 for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; 7 just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace. 8 For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Psalms 71
God the Rock of Salvation
71 In You, O Lord, I put my trust;Let me never be put to shame.2 Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape;Incline Your ear to me, and save me.3 Be my [a]strong refuge,To which I may resort continually;You have given the commandment to save me,For You are my rock and my fortress.
4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked,Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.5 For You are my hope, O Lord God;You are my trust from my youth.6 By You I have been [b]upheld from birth;You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb.My praise shall be continually of You.
7 I have become as a wonder to many,But You are my strong refuge.8 Let my mouth be filled with Your praiseAnd with Your glory all the day.
9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age;Do not forsake me when my strength fails.10 For my enemies speak against me;And those who lie in wait for my life take counsel together,11 Saying, “God has forsaken him;Pursue and take him, for there is none to deliver him.”
12 O God, do not be far from me;O my God, make haste to help me!13 Let them be [c]confounded and consumedWho are adversaries of my life;Let them be covered with reproach and dishonorWho seek my hurt.
14 But I will hope continually,And will praise You yet more and more.15 My mouth shall tell of Your righteousnessAnd Your salvation all the day,For I do not know their limits.16 I will go in the strength of the Lord God;I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.
17 O God, You have taught me from my youth;And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.18 Now also when I am old and grayheaded,O God, do not forsake me,Until I declare Your strength to this generation,Your power to everyone who is to come.
19 Also Your righteousness, O God, is [d]very high,You who have done great things;O God, who is like You?20 You, who have shown me great and severe troubles,Shall revive me again,And bring me up again from the depths of the earth.21 You shall increase my greatness,And comfort me on every side.
22 Also with the lute I will praise You—And Your faithfulness, O my God!To You I will sing with the harp, O Holy One of Israel. 23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You,And my soul, which You have redeemed.24 My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long;For they are confounded,For they are brought to shameWho seek my hurt.
Proverbs 24:9-10
9 The devising of foolishness is sin,And the scoffer is an abomination to men.
10 If you faint in the day of adversity,Your strength is small.
