Day 288 Readings
Torah: Noach, 1st Portion Bereshit (Genesis) 6:9-22
The Ark Prepared
13 And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make [b]rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch. 15 And this is how you shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred [c]cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. 16 You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks. 17 And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die. 18 But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. 19 And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. 20 Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive. 21 And you shall take for yourself of all food that is eaten, and you shall gather it to yourself; and it shall be food for you and for them.”
22 Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.

Judges 5
The Song of Deborah and Barak
1 Then Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam sang on that day, saying,
2 “For [a]the leaders leading in Israel,For the people volunteering,Bless the Lord!3 Hear, you kings; listen, you dignitaries!I myself—to the Lord, I myself will sing,I will sing praise to the Lord, the God of Israel!4 Lord, when You went out from Seir,When You marched from the field of Edom,The earth quaked, the heavens also dripped,The clouds also dripped water.5 The mountains [b]flowed with water at the presence of the Lord,This Sinai, at the presence of the Lord, the God of Israel.
6 “In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath,In the days of Jael, the roads [c]were deserted,And travelers went by [d]roundabout ways.7 The [e]peasantry came to an end, they came to an end in Israel,Until I, Deborah, arose,Until I arose, a mother in Israel.8 New gods were chosen; Then war was in the gates. Not a shield or a spear was seenAmong forty thousand in Israel.9 My heart goes out to the commanders of Israel,The volunteers among the people;Bless the Lord!
12 “Awake, awake, Deborah; Awake, awake, [h]sing a song!
Arise, Barak, and lead away your captives, son of Abinoam.
13 Then survivors came down to the nobles; The people of the Lord came down to me as warriors.
14 From Ephraim those whose root is in Amalek came down, Following you, Benjamin, with your peoples;
From Machir commanders came down, And from Zebulun those who wield the staff of [i]office.
15 And the [j]princes of Issachar were with Deborah; As was Issachar, so was Barak;
Into the valley they rushed at his [k]heels; Among the divisions of Reuben
There were great determinations of heart.
16 Why did you sit among the [l]sheepfolds, To hear the piping for the flocks?
Among the divisions of Reuben There were great searchings of heart.
17 Gilead [m]remained across the Jordan; And why did Dan stay on ships?
Asher sat at the seashore, And [n]remained by its landings.
18 Zebulun was a people who risked their lives, And Naphtali too, on the high places of the field.
24 “Most blessed of women is Jael,The wife of Heber the Kenite; Most blessed is she of women in the tent.25 He asked for water, she gave him milk;In a magnificent bowl she brought him curds.26 She reached out her hand for the tent peg,And her right hand for the workmen’s hammer. Then she struck Sisera, she smashed his head; And she shattered and pierced his temple.27 Between her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay;Between her feet he bowed, he fell;Where he bowed, there he fell [o]dead.
28 “Out of the window she looked and wailed,The mother of Sisera through the [p]lattice,‘Why does his chariot delay in coming? Why do the [q]hoofbeats of his chariots delay?’29 Her wise princesses would answer her,Indeed she repeats her words to herself,30 ‘Are they not finding, are they not dividing the spoils?A concubine, two concubines for every warrior; To Sisera a spoil of dyed cloth,A spoil of dyed cloth embroidered,Dyed cloth of double embroidery on the [r]neck of the plunderer?’31 May all Your enemies perish in this way, Lord; But may those who love Him be like the rising of the sun in its might.”
And the land was at rest for forty years.

Scripture
Jeremiah 26
Cities of Judah Warned
1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came from the Lord, saying, 2 “This is what the Lord says: ‘Stand in the courtyard of the Lord’s house, and speak to all the cities of Judah who have come to worship in the Lord’s house all the words that I have commanded you to speak to them. Do not omit a word! 3 Perhaps they will listen and everyone will turn from his evil way, and I will relent of the disaster which I am planning to inflict on them because of the evil of their deeds.’ 4 And you shall say to them, ‘This is what the Lord says: “If you do not listen to Me, to walk in My Law which I have set before you, 5 to listen to the words of My servants the prophets, whom I have been sending to you again and again, but you have not listened; 6 then I will make this house like Shiloh, and I will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.”’”
12 Then Jeremiah spoke to all the officials and to all the people, saying, “The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard. 13 Now then, reform your ways and your deeds and obey the voice of the Lord your God; and the Lord will relent of the disaster which He has pronounced against you. 14 But as for me, behold, I am in your hands; do with me as is good and right in your sight. 15 Only know for certain that if you put me to death, you will bring innocent blood on yourselves, and on this city and its inhabitants; for truly the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words [a]so that you hear them.”
Jeremiah 27
4 Order them to go to their masters, saying, ‘This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says: “This is what you shall say to your masters: 5 ‘I have made the earth, mankind, and the animals which are on the face of the earth by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and I will give it to the one who is [d]pleasing in My sight. 6 And now I have handed all these lands over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, My servant, and I have also given him the animals of the field to serve him. 7 All the nations shall serve him and his son and his grandson until the time of his own land comes; then many nations and great kings will [e]make him their servant.
9 And as for you, do not listen to your prophets, your diviners, your [g]dreamers, your soothsayers, or your sorcerers who talk to you, saying, “You will not serve the king of Babylon.” 10 For they are prophesying a lie to you in order to remove you far from your land; and I will drive you away and you will perish. 11 But the nation that will bring its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him, I will let remain on its land,’ declares the Lord, ‘and they will cultivate it and live in it.’”’”
21 Yes, this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, says concerning the vessels that are left in the house of the Lord and in the house of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem: 22 “They will be brought to Babylon and will be there until the day I visit them,” declares the Lord. “Then I will bring them [i]back and restore them to this place.”’”
2 Thessalonians 3
Pray for Us
3 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, 2 and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith.
3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. 4 And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you.
5 Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.
Warning Against Idleness
6 But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which [a]he received from us. 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you; 8 nor did we eat anyone’s bread [b]free of charge, but worked with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, 9 not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us.
10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. 11 For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. 12 Now those who are such we command and [c]exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread.
13 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good. 14 And if anyone does not obey our word in this [d]epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. 15 Yet do not count him as an enemy, but [e]admonish him as a brother.
Benediction
16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.
17 The salutation of Paul with my own hand, which is a sign in every [f]epistle; so I write.
18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Psalm 85
New King James Version
Prayer that the Lord Will Restore Favor to the Land
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.
85 Lord, You have been favorable to Your land; You have brought back the captivity of Jacob.2 You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people; You have covered all their sin. Selah3 You have taken away all Your wrath; You have turned from the fierceness of Your anger.
4 Restore us, O God of our salvation,And cause Your anger toward us to cease.5 Will You be angry with us forever? Will You prolong Your anger to all generations?6 Will You not revive us again,That Your people may rejoice in You?7 Show us Your mercy, Lord,And grant us Your salvation.
8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak,For He will speak peaceTo His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to [a]folly.9 Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him,That glory may dwell in our land.
10 Mercy and truth have met together;Righteousness and peace have kissed.11 Truth shall spring out of the earth,And righteousness shall look down from heaven.12 Yes, the Lord will give what is good; And our land will yield its increase.13 Righteousness will go before Him,And shall make His footsteps our pathway.
